As described by Pausanias, in a Greek travel guide from 150 A.D. ". . . griffons are beasts like lions, with the wings and beak of an eagle. Sometimes the valiant guardian of treasure and of kings, sometimes a fierce beast." The first griffin image appeared in 5000 B.C.

Standing roughly a foot tall, this plush griffin is covered in orange fabric and has a wooly, white mane. His wings are brown, his feet and beak are yellow and black, and he will happily guard whatever treasures you decide to hide behind him.
