The Little RED Book of Alpha Complex
The Paranoia rulebook, introducing players old and new to the world of Alpha Complex in a new guise, has revived the classic game setting. For the average player, however, it holds information that may prove dangerous for their characters (such as how the rules, Alpha Complex and The Computer actually work).
Friend Computer, in its benevolence, has launched this new initiative, providing a slimmed down version that holds all the information a player needs to know in order to play the game, with as much background as a character needs plus the rules for character creation. The Games Master will still need the main rulebook, however the Little RED Book is all his players require, and they can now get on with the fun of actually playing the game rather than treasonously grumbling about the rules and then getting executed. All hail friend Computer!
The Computer is your friend. No, really. . .
A world fit for Kafka, Orwell, and the Marx Brothers
Paranoia is a satirical roleplaying game set in a darkly humorous future. A well-meaning but deranged Computer desperately protects the citizens of an underground city from secret societies, mutants, and all sorts of real and imagined enemies. You play a Troubleshooter, one of The Computer's elite agents. You track and destroy enemies of The Computer. You hope The Computer and your fellow Troubleshooters won't find out you are one of these enemies.
Paranoia is a blackly fun game of terror, death, bureaucracies, mad scientists, mutants, dangerous weapons, and insane robots, which encourages players to lie, to cheat, and to backstab each other at every turn.
Originally published in 1984, Paranoia sold over 150,000 copies. The new edition updates Alpha Complex for this new and more paranoid time.
