GIANTmicrobes: Plush Athlete's Foot Petri Dish (GIANTmicrobes)

Trichophyton mentagrophytes
1,000,000 times actual size!
Facts: In ancient times, athlete's foot was attributed to insect bites. (In medical Latin it's called Tinea pedis, or foot larvae.) However, in the 19th century a team of scientists discovered that microorganisms were responsible! Although a variety of fungi can cause foot rashes, Trichophyton mentagrophytes cause the itchy, cracked skin typically between the fourth and fifth toes.
These plush measure approximately 3" in length and 1" wide, ignoring the variously sized protuberances. They are made of orange plush and are packaged in an oversized novelty petri dish. They come with a short description of the disease and how to treat it.
For children ages 3 and up.
