You open one of the 997 boxes on this floor and find...
A pocket calculator with mechanical flip-digits like old clock-radios. It works fine, and has trig and other scientific functions, but no solar, battery, or other apparent power source. If the case is opened, the interior is seen to contain a tiny abacus, manipulated by small rods connected to the underside of the buttons, and likewise connected to the digit display.
